INFOBOX
Black cumin oil in horse feed
Black cumin was already highly valued in Egyptian times. The Arabs also appreciated the healing effect of the seeds. This is one of the reasons why there are mentions of black cumin being fed to Arab horses in writings dating back thousands of years. In the last decade, the oil extracted from the seeds, which is mainly grown in the Middle East, has become increasingly important. The strong antioxidant effect and the disinfectant and antifungal effect are particularly noteworthy. The saponins in black cumin oil are said to have a cleansing and expectorant effect. This is why black cumin oil is usually used in connection with respiratory complaints or allergies. Just a few milliliters a day should be enough to achieve the desired effect on the horse.
