Legal guarantee

At least two years' legal guarantee of conformity for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can enforce their rights under the legal guarantee, for example if the goods

  • do not match the description,
  • do not work as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity that existed at the time the goods were delivered and that becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. In such cases sellers must offer:

  • free repair or free replacement,
  • in certain cases a price reduction or a full refund of the purchase price.

How long does the legal guarantee last?

In some countries a longer period applies. For second-hand goods a shorter period may apply, but never less than one year.

What to do if you receive faulty goods

  1. Report the problem to us as soon as possible.
  2. Provide proof of purchase, for example the receipt, the invoice or a bank statement.

Commercial guarantees

Sellers and manufacturers may also grant commercial guarantees that apply independently of the legal guarantee. A commercial guarantee does not limit your statutory rights; it is granted in addition to them.
