Complementary feed for horses
High-dose joint building blocks specifically strengthen and protect joints and tendons.
Application
EQUIPUR - glykan contains an optimized and highly concentrated blend of joint nutrients (green-lipped New Zealand mussel (200,000 mg/kg), chondroitin sulfate (100,000 mg/kg), glucosamine, hyaluronic acid, MSM, and devil's claw) for the long-term strengthening of tendon and joint structures and to increase the suppleness and resilience of connective tissue.

Composition
Mussel concentrate 20.0%, devil’s claw 15.0 %, chondroitin sulphate 10.0 %, methyl sulphonyl methane (MSM) 6.0 %, glucosamine 5.0 %, willow bark, birch, stinging nettle, flaxseed, ginger, golden rod, chamomile, flaxseed oil, hyaluronic acid 0.4 %.
Instructions for proper use
Horses (500 kg): 30 g per day
Foals, young horses and ponies: 10 g per day
given with the feed.
As a preventative measure, the dosage can be halved. Due to the increased content of trace elements daily ration should not be more than doubled.
Due to the quality-determining mussel flavor, start by feeding smaller portions at first!
Contains mussel concentrate - shall not be fed to ruminants.
Feeding period
For maximum effectiveness, this product should be applied for a period of at least three weeks. Feeding for a longer period or the whole year round does not pose any problems and will be beneficial.
General findings of nutritional science
Joints and tendons are exposed to high levels of stress. That is why the body needs nutrients and active ingredients that protect and regenerate the musculoskeletal system.
Glycosaminoglycans such as chondroitin sulphate, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid are a main component of connective tissue. These include the sinews and sinew sheaths, the ligamentous apparatus, the joint capsules and cartilage as well as the joint fluid (synovia). The basic substance of connective tissue with its glycosaminoglycans is responsible for its mechanical resilience and also serves as a "transporter" of nutrients and waste products between the connective tissue cells and the bloodstream. If the glycosaminoglycan concentration is reduced due to injuries, chronic changes (e.g. arthrosis, old tendon damage), heavy strain or the natural ageing process, these tasks can no longer be fulfilled.
Omega-3 fatty acids and herbs reduce susceptibility to inflammation and allergic reactions, increase the suppleness and resistance of joints, ligaments, sinews and muscles and accelerate the healing of pathological changes.
Kieselguhr strengthens and stabilizes the connective tissue and increases its elasticity.
Trace elements and vitamin C are needed to support collagen formation.
Methionine and MSM are biologically active sulphur compounds. They have a significant influence on the resilience of sinew and joint structures.
Vitamin E and selenium maintain the stability and tensile strength of the sinew fibers.
INFOBOX
Osteoarthritis - when a horse's joints lose suppleness
Hardly any disease is more feared in horses than osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis, such as spat, occurs when the physiological connections in the joint are disturbed. Normally, the synovial fluid within the joint capsule ensures a smooth connection between the cartilage-covered bone joints. Injuries, overloading, misalignment, malnutrition or even age-related wear and tear are responsible for the degeneration of the joints in osteoarthritis. Injuries, overloading, misalignment, malnutrition or even age-related wear and tear are responsible for the degeneration of the joints in osteoarthritis. Today we know that with appropriate joint-active nutrients, progressive joint problems can be slowed down and sometimes even cured.
Osteoarthritis in horses – what to do?
Cartilage and joint-protecting active ingredients increase the horse's suppleness and mobility. In particular, the secondary plant substances of devil's claw and ginger, as well as the joint nutrients (green-lipped New Zealand mussel, chondroitin, glucosamine and hyaluronic acid) have a stabilizing and regenerating effect on the joint and tendon.
