General findings of nutritional science
The skin not only forms a protective layer round the body against the environment, but it is also the largest and most versatile organ of the horse, transmitting cold, heat, pressure, and pain. Many skin disorders such as inflammation, over-sensitivity to insect bites, summer eczema, nodule in the saddle area, scurf, itching or recalcitrant healing of wounds can be expressions of the overburdened "organ" skin.
Herbs relieve the skin by stimulating, detoxifying and purifying the functions of the liver and the kidney. Anti-allergic components stabilise the skin. The reaction to insect bites lessens.
Unsaturated fatty acids and sulphur have anti-inflammatory effects and accelerate the healing of skin disorders.
Probiotics harmonise the natural indigenous power of resistance through a stimulation of the immune system in the intestine.
Kieselgur strengthens and hardens the connective tissues and increases the skin‘s power of resistance.
Vitamin C and iron motivate the renewal of collagen and promote the quick healing of skin disorders.
Zinc is indispensable for regeneration and the healing of wounds.
Biotin is a determining factor in the quality of new skin and hair. It contributes to the new development of an even and smooth skin surface.
Calcium and magnesium have a stabilising effect on cell membranes and significantly reduce inflammatory reaction to insect bites.
