Application
EQUIPUR - calcin effectively remedies calcium deficiencies. The harmonious interplay of calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D3 and vitamin K1 (Phytomenadione) supports the growing-phase of foals and young horses by providing minerals for the formation of bones. With pregnant and lactating mares, EQUIPUR-calcin simply nourishes the increase of calcium and vitamin D3 and is also effective in protecting older horses from a shortage of minerals.

General findings of nutritional science
Calcium is imperative for the development, capacity and strength of bones and teeth. A deficiency due to short supply or an increased demand such as growth, pregnancy, lactation or moderate physical exertion will result in stiffness and low-grade lameness. If calcium deficiency persists, exostosis and inflammation of the bone, joint degeneration and even bone fractures can occur. Particularly in growing foals, calcium deficiency can induce irreversible deformations of the limbs. In addition, calcium plays a vital role in coagulation and in healing wounds, as well as in muscular activity, heart function, and stabilization of nerve cells. For this reason it is very important to sustain the calcium level in the blood by means of a regular supply of calcium in a form which can be quickly and consistently reabsorbed. Calcium in gluconated form meets this requirement. It facilitates active absorption in the gut, thus aiding transport to the place with the demand.
Dicalcium phosphate not only supplies calcium but also phosphorus and vitamin D3, the most important allies of calcium for strengthening the bone structure.
Vitamin D3 regulates the calcium and phosphorus metabolism and promotes building in mineral substances of the bone structure. In case of a deficiency, the existent calcium cannot be used accordingly.
Dextrose is an energy-rich carrier substance which compensates potential energy deficiencies.
