INFOBOX
MSM in horse feed - how useful is this organic sulphur?
The horse's sulphur requirement is usually covered by the basic supply. It should also be noted that horses can only absorb sulphur via very complex compounds. The sulphur-containing amino acid methionine, for example, supplies the essential trace element alongside important protein. Pure sulphur, on the other hand, can hardly be absorbed by horses and is therefore not suitable as a source. In addition to sulphur-containing amino acids, other organic compounds are also found in nature. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is of particular importance here. This sulphur compound is highly available and therefore active in supporting important metabolic processes in the horse's organism. MSM supports the joint metabolism in the supply of important nutrients and activates receptors to relieve pain in horses. Other collagenous connective tissues including the skin, tendons and ligaments in horses also benefit from this property. Due to its high activity, MSM also supports detoxification processes.
