INFOBOX
Ginger - medicinal plant for horses
Ginger is not only used to treat pain or inflammation in horses. Ginger is also used to support stomach problems or a poor immune system. It is primarily the high content of pungent and bitter substances that stimulate the bile metabolism and digestion in horses. This is also due to the fact that this medicinal plant really activates the circulation. Some studies have shown that ginger has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. It is therefore also used for osteoarthritis and other joint problems. Horses only need a few grams (2 grams per 100 kg) of granulated ginger per day. Even though it is generally very beneficial to the digestive system, ginger should not be used in horses with stomach problems (stomach ulcers).
