Complementary feed for horses
Organic calcium and vitamin D3 for strong, resilient bones and joints.
Application
EQUIPUR - calcin contains highly effective organic calcium, phosphorus, vitamin D3 and vitamin K1 (Phytomenadione). Only through the balanced interaction of these components can insufficient bone development in young horses, calcium deficiency in pregnant and lactating mares, and demineralization in older horses be prevented.

Instructions for proper use
Mares and horses with proven
calcium deficiency: 100 g per day
Stallions and sport horses: 50 g per day
Young horses and ponies: 25 g per day
given with the feed.
Due to the increased content of vitamin D3 daily ration should not be more than doubled.
Feeding period
For maximum effectiveness, the product should be applied for a period of at least three weeks. Feeding the whole year round does not pose any problems and will be beneficial.
General findings of nutritional science
Calcium is essential for the development, resilience, and strength of bones and teeth. A deficiency due to insufficient intake or increased demand, such as during growth, pregnancy, lactation, and strenuous physical activity, initially leads to stiffness and mild lameness. If the calcium deficiency persists, it can lead to bone enlargement and inflammation, joint changes, and even bone fractures. In growing foals in particular, calcium deficiency leads to irreparable deformities of the limb bones. Calcium also plays a crucial role in blood clotting and wound healing, muscle activity, heart function, and the stabilization of nerve cells.
It is therefore important to keep blood calcium levels as constant as possible by regularly consuming calcium that can be absorbed quickly and safely. Calcium in gluconate form is actively absorbed by the intestines and immediately transported to where it is needed.
In addition to calcium, Dicalcium phosphate primarily provides phosphorus, which, alongside vitamin D3, is calcium's most important ally in strengthening bone structure.
Vitamin D3 regulates calcium and phosphorus metabolism and promotes the incorporation of minerals into bone structure. A deficiency means that the available calcium cannot be used properly.
Dextrose is an energy-rich carrier substance that serves to compensate for any deficits in energy balance.
INFOBOX
The horse's calcium needs
An adult horse needs around 30 grams of calcium every day. This amount is usually reliably administered through needs-based hay feeding. In order to compensate for the high phosphorus content in the grain in favor of an ideal Ca:Ph ratio, the need for calcium increases when larger amounts of concentrated feed are given. Likewise, in the last weeks of pregnancy or the first weeks of lactation, the requirement increases to more than double. During the growth phase, young horses need more calcium than adult horses, which is usually reliably provided through the basic feed.
Feed calcium and vitamin D to horses
If calcium is fed, sufficient vitamin D should also be administered, as without vitamin D healthy mineralization and hardness of the bones cannot be guaranteed.
